A 28-year-old married girl was allegedly hanged by her in-laws in Johal Nagar in Ferozepur’s Zira town

A married woman has died in mysterious circumstances in Zira town of Ferozepur district. The Peke family of the deceased has accused her in-laws of killing her for demanding dowry. The Peke family of the deceased has demanded strict action against her mother-in-law and Dior.
The deceased has been identified as Rajinder Kaur, resident of Tapa Mandi, Ferozepur. Family members of the deceased said that they received a call from Rajinder’s in-laws’ house in the afternoon. He was informed that Rajinder’s health was deteriorating. When her father and brother reached the Civil Hospital Zira, doctors there declared Rajinder Kaur dead. The family of the deceased’s father-in-law told them that Rajinder had suffered a heart attack which resulted in his death while rope marks were found on his neck. The Peke family of the deceased accused her in-laws of harassing her for dowry. He said that Rajinder’s mother-in-law used to fight over his dowry. As soon as her husband went to Gurdwara Sahib in the morning, she was later forcibly hanged and killed. The victim’s family has demanded justice and strict action against the deceased’s mother-in-law and Dior.
Police officer Mohit Dhawan is probing the case

He said that a case has been registered against the in-laws on the complaint of the Peke family members of the deceased. He said that the preliminary investigation and the doctors had also confirmed the presence of rope marks on the neck of the deceased. The body of the deceased has been kept at Civil Hospital Zira for postmortem. He said that the exact cause of death of the deceased would be known only after the post-mortem report was received. Police are currently investigating the matter. He assured that strict action would be taken against those found guilty in the case.
