While the farmers have started protesting against the anti-agriculture bills, the Powercom department has started long power cuts. Disturbed by the power cuts, the farmers of the constituency staged a dharna in front of Patto Hira Singh’s power grid and disrupted road traffic. On this occasion farmers from different villages Madheke, Sadoke, Khai, Ghaziana, Dina Sahib, Patto Hira Singh, Barewala, Manunke Gill, Dhurkot in collaboration with the unions chanted slogans in front of the main gate of Patto Hira Singh’s power grid. Addressing the protest, various farmers said that on the one hand the Union government wanted to pass the Agriculture Reforms Bill and hand over the lands of the farmers to the corporate houses. On the other hand, the Punjab government wanted to ruin the ripening crop of the farmers by imposing power cuts through the power department with the intention of harassing the farmers. He said that if the Powercom department did not pay attention to this then this dharna would be permanent
